I figured some this could start a couple of nice friendly competitive debates but what do you think is the greatest game of all time.
me Personally It has to Be LoZ: OoT Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time. anyone disagree.. Ill also break down My faves by genre
Shooter: Goldeneye 007
Racing: Mario Kart DS
Sports: 1080 Snowboarding... all though im a sports guy out of the video game realm i really dont like sports video games maybe its because i play to many as it is. This though is definatly a keeper
Multiplayer: this one is interesting seeing as Mario Kart and Golden eye are both multiplayer games but it has to be SSBM
RPG: Fire Emblem GBA/ Pokemon Red/Blue.. great games.. both easy to pick up and even easier to play, the simple things in life are always the best. Plus it always seems handlheld RPG's work out best
Adventure: Ocarina of Time
I know their has to be more genre's drawing a blank though so ill be editing this.

Hm. Iiii'm gonna get flamed for this, but I don't think Ocarina of Time was the best zelda. Personally, my favorite would have to be Majora's Mask. It was a lot shorter than Ocarina of Time, and it was semi-timed which a lot of people didn't like, but even though my disc was scratched (I have it for gamecube) it was my favorite zelda. And I've played all the zeldas.
shooter: Team Fortress 2, although i've never played goldeneye 007 ._.;
Racing: I'm going to have to go with kirby air ride on this one, although i liked it for it's non-racing parts.
sports: i had this hockey game where the referees were all asleep or something and you were allowed to fight anyone you wanted. I'd have to say that one.
Multiplayer: ssbm. nuff said.
RPG: Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis. Nobody's ever heard of it, but it's really good (think fire emblem), followed closely by Final Fantasies 5-7 and pokemon gold & silver
adventure: oh man, there's so many. I'll go with Majora's Mask, I suppose.
platformer: 'nother controversial one, I liked mario sunshine the best, followed by one of the original kirbies. Mario sunshine took all the clumsy controls of mario64 and made them work, updated the graphics, and made a game that was easy enough to be fun, but hard enough to make it a real challenge to beat perfect. Unlike mario galaxy, which took me under a month.
games i like:
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
I really liked that game.

How come games are always like 10 folds harder when we are younger thus sometimes making them better because of it. I wish i was bad at video games again...

It probably didn't help that all the older games actually WERE harder, too. I beat almost all of the zelda games before playing the first two, and I still haven't beaten them they're so hard. Same thing with Mario 64.

shooter: Halo 2 racing:Don't play many of these. I'll say MK64 by default sports: don't play these at all... RPG: Pokemon G/S/Crystal Adventure: Metroid Series
Btw, games have become easier. too much so. Metroid (NES) was nearly impossible at first. I needed online maps to find Ridley's and Kraid's hideouts, but it's a thinking game, not just an "Alien!! kill-burn-maim!!" type of shooter.

Best game of all time: i cant choose between Tales of Symphonia and Ocarina of Time...
Shooter: along with populart demand, Golden Eye 007 for n64
Racing: Mario Kart DS, duh
Sports: Mario Tennis for N64
Multi: Smash bros all the way for a console, and SCO/Flysis for comp
RPG: ToS and PSO and of course Pokemon and Baten Kaitos (damn it i cant chose)
Adventure: no doubt Ocarina
i think everyone should put a list in their post of their favorite games, it can be as long as you like, but only put games that you absolutely concider amazing games:
smash bros. any Zelda game gets my vote ToS PSO Golden Sun Pokemon Golden Eye Baten Kaitos (recomend this one to RPG fans for sure) Flysis Metroid Prime Star Fox Adventures Prince of Persia
ill keep adding more later (these are all games i have played through prolly at least twice if not more andwould buy without a doubt, so dont think im just listing games)

I got to say Ocarina of time is the best game, but that is just because I have never played Tales of Symphonia unless multiplayer.
Shooter: Golden Eye is definetly the best for N64, but I got to agree with Tom the Halo games are the best shooter games overall if we include X Box games, I must say that Gears of War, and Star Wars: Republic Commando come close as well.
Racing is of course Mario Kart DS.
Sports I am actually going to say Mario Strikers Charged.
Multiplayer is the definetly Smash Bros, or Star Wars, and Halo for X Box.
RPG games is the Metroid series.
Adventure is Ocarina of Time.
I must Say that I overall like all of the Prince of Persia Games. The Two Thrones was amazing, and I replaying for the 11th time. Though I didn't like the first one that much. The Warrior Within and Two thrones were insane.

I'll only list a couple because I don't really play too many games outside these genres
Shooter: COD 4, goldeneye is close, but I like the realism of the call of duty games, and COD4 just improved on the previous ones, also didn't hurt that they finally didn't set a game in WW2.
Platform: The old Mario games, they're really challenging, which is nice because many platform games now are effectively "for kids" games, which means they're really easy.
RPG: The pokemon games are good, but it's Golden Sun hands down for me. When I got this game (for GBA) I couldn't put it down for the two weeks it took me to beat it.
Multiplayer: Not really a genre, but w/e. Smash bros., pick one, they all (hopefully some foreshadowing) rock. (This one wins fighting too).
Adventure: Ocarina of Time, although Majora's and Twilight Princess were both good too. Actually I'm gonna say Master Quest, because it's Ocarina of Time, but harder.
Real Time Strategy: Starcraft. For some reason I like this game better than any of the others I've played.
Turn Based Strategy: Fire Emblem, the one that came out first for GBA. I didn't like any of the others as much. This game was mainly because of the RPG elements intertwined with the TBS gameplay.
Overall: Ocarina of Time, so far I haven't found a game that can compare, since you have to consider this game came out in the 90's, when it's graphics were top notch, and the gameplay still is.

I honestly can't pick a best overall game, but it'd probably be between SSBM, Zelda TP, Zelda OoT, Tales of Symphonia, and Metroid Prime 3. Shooter: Don't like these too much, and I've never played Goldeneye except for maybe once a long time ago at my cousin's house. If I had to pick, then probably Time Splitters: Future Perfect or Metroid Prime Hunters (I don't really consider the rest of the Prime series shooters). Racing: Mario Kart DS, hands down. Sports: Wii Sports Multiplayer: SSBM, Symphonia, or Phantasy Star Online. Hard one. RPG: Pokemon, Symphonia, Baten Kaitos, PSO...again, can't really pick. Adventure: OoT, TP, or Prime 3. I'm really indecisive Oh and Mike, Metroid games aren't RPGs, they're adventures. An RPG is something like Pokemon or Symphonia.

Just to be annoying, RPG is just a game where you assume someone else's identity for the duration of the game. Other than that an RPG can be almost anything. In reality it's a very vague concept as under the definition Goldeneye, Super Mario 64, and Pokemon all fall under the category, including Metroid as you are Samus for the duration of the game.

That would mean almost every game would be an RPG. It's not meant to be that literal. Actually come to think of it, if you use that definition, Pokemon isn't an RPG since your character is supposed to be you.
