Nice, ya I'm pretty much just get the physical stuff, not the fan-boy stuff kinda guy, prolly just my personality though, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with buying that stuff, in moderation.
Basically as long as you know it's not real. And don't try to do things that happens in the anime/manga/whatever (ex: Naruto fan attempting jutsus)

Right, of course. It's definitely an "acquired taste," persay. XD;
That's the most distinctive part of my otaku-ness that others can't seem to grasp. Like, I know a few kids at school who pretty much literally eat, sleep, and breathe anime, and they're hopeless cases of society. Way worse than me. ;
It's fun to imitate it from time to time, though. Like me and Andy Cook always have "anime battles" which involve my alchemy and his jutsu. xDD;
I like anime and manga because of the material, usually. Like, how many times in your life would you even think about alchemy triumphing over all other sciences and used as a superpower? Or where else would people with blue, purple, green, etc. hair fit into real life? It's an adventure, to say the least. ^_^
But some people take it way too far and slander the name of "otaku" to something that has just been reduced to "lover of excessively graphic cartoon pornography with no respect for their own personal dignity or regard for culture." <_<;a
In conclusion, fangirls ruin EVERYTHING. >__<;
......... Whoops. Went on a rant again. xD;

How easy to get confused. ... ... You tell 'em, bushy.

I have nothing against people who joke about it, like your fights with Cook would be rather amusing to watch.
My problem comes when they start to blur the lines between the anime worlds and reality.
Also I'm too lazy/cheap to buy anything past the animes/manga books themselves. Although you can tell how much it's catching on here in the states simply by looking around a bookstore, there's an entire aisle of manga books alone, and anime dvds are in most places that sell a lot of dvds (fye might even have them). Previously you had to get it on ebay (still probably the cheapest way to get entire sets).

Right, yeah. XD;
Oh, believe me, they are. Especially when we play "Pokemon Tennis" in Gym... You're a Pokemon and call out the names of attacks they would know while you hit the ball back and forth. A lot more fun than you think. XDD;
I dated a girl who blended worlds. Never again. xD;;;
f.y.e. has them. *frequently goes there to purchase said merchandise* |D
Oh yeah, anime and manga are definitely increasing in popularity in the States. Adult Swim and The Anime Network are slowly starting to get their own spots on the stage of television. Even movie theaters are starting to catch on by showing Naruto, Death Note, and Bleach movies. And I'm sure we've all seen Pokemon in a movie theater at LEAST once. ^__^
I've even gone as far as made reccomendations for the school's manga in the library... Most of the titles you see in there were suggested by yours truly. XD

Nice, although I am mad, because I can never figure out which channel is the anime network (anyone know? I have digital cable.) and that would be a good way to get some free anime watching.

Last I knew it was, like, 1-0-something-something. Either 6-0 or 8-0. o__oa
Might've changed. XD;
They usually have a good variety of stuff on there... o-oa

'S like they're trying to hide it on us or somethin'. XD;
That's a good way to see if you like a specific anime, though. Test it out for no direct expense. >o>a
That's the only way I'll allow myself to watch or read stuff illegally... XD;;
......... Anyone other than me ever notice any trends in recent anime? Such as maids n' stuff? o.oa

Lol, you notice the trend of increased librality? Older anime/manga (mainly anime) was more conservative, a lot of new stuff is getting pretty daring, whether topically, visually, etc. (including the maid outfits, you ever read He is my master ? pretty funny, and weird). I think it's just that with manga/anime becoming more "mainstream", or at least open to the average person they are trying to attract more specific audiences with the different ideas (uniforms are rather popular). Oh ya and one last question, I've been reading some Fruits Basket, I'm up to about #25 or so, does it stay good? or does it die out, because I dunno if I should continue it.

Yeah, that's what I'm sayin'. >O>
Well, we're a new generation. They're tryin' to keep up with the times, I s'pose. o_oa
"Daring." Ha. So true. XDDD
HIMM? Of course. Maids is sexy. *owns the manga and is planning on buying the anime* x3 XD;
Yeah, everyone's got somethin' they're into. I think what people are trying to do nowadays is open up to a broader audience, which is a good idea and all, but... It kinda takes away from the quality of the show itself... It's like, "Hey, this worked, so let's try to do it again but 'better!'" And at the same time, yeah, hundreds of sub-genres are showing up everywhere, such as school uniforms and maid outfits and stuff. <_<
Fruits Basket... I stopped reading after, like, a couple volumes after the "Kyo's Actually A Demonic Cat-Beast-Thing" arc. So I wouldn't know. >__>
......... But I still think Yuki should've ended up with Tohru. Kyo has Kagura, dammit. xD;

Okay, so I saw a 1 1/2 hour AMV compilation last night at a party (college friend is complete otaku), I was introduced to a large amount of anime there (basically I knew none of them save for "Oh, there's akira, there's dragonball, etc.)
... so anyone know what (emphasis on "what") One Piece (?) is? It looked completely bizarre...
...and on another note, Grave of the Fireflies (did I get the title right?) is said to be good, but I know nothing about it.

One Piece is a show about pirates. Except some of them have special powers because they ate a cursed fruit, and now they can't swim (curse). It's kinda weird most of the time, but some of the fights are pretty cool.

Oh, OK. Cursed fruit? I've heard stranger... Must be a heck of a case of indigestion after eating that... Where do you guys see all this stuff?? Online?

Yeah, One Piece isn't really all the hype it's cracked up to be... Just another 4Kids abomination. Unless you see the original stuff. Which is probably illegal. Unless if they're selling "uncut" stuff nowadays. o_oa
Grave of the Fireflies... No idea. Wiki it. o__oa
But yeah. Usually I just look around on the Internets for hip n' happenin' shows to either Wiki or troll YouTube for a bit of insight... Or I just buy magazines and read reviews and stuff. Or I just borrow it from other people who've reccomended it. It all depends. >o>a
