Well, here's the anime/manga thread Beast n' I wanted... Of course others can voice your opinions, but I'm predicting that there won't be many (if any) others, SO... >o>
Beast, you mentioned Trigun, right? I thought it was pretty good. Vash was a "cool dork" character, which kept it interesting... And the gunfights and stuff were cool, too... One of my favorite quotes came from it, too. "LOVE & PEACE~!" Good times. XD
I read a little bit of Trigun: Maximum too... It was alright, but I'm not really THAT interested in that series... <_<a

Trigun, in my opinion was awesome, and yes Vash is a "cool dork," but when need be he had a serious side. To live forever is a terrible curse in my opinion and since his brother Knives, just wanted to murder everyone, I think he was a little jealous of humans and how they lived. Yes he was insane, and he hated humans to a point that was almost unrealistic, but he did whatever he wanted, and tortured Vash, because Vash was the opposite. I don't understand really what drove Knives to become angry to murder everyone, but I guess I will never understand a plant's mind.
What is your opinion on Knives, and how he went insane?

Well, see, I don't remember much about it, so I don't think I'd be able to voice my opinion... ;a

Either of you have recommendations as to what to watch/read? I typically go for actionish type stuff, but as long as it has a decent story i'll read/watch just about anything. I figured I'd ask you guys because it seems like you've been into this kind of stuff longer than me.

I suggest Trigun, Ruirouni Kenshin, and Trinity Blood for the action types. A good story line would be Fruit Basket, and then you should ask bushy for more ideas!

Well, lesse here... If you're mostly into the action-y stuff, then allow me to run these by you:
Fullmetal Alchemist Trigun Madlax Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE Gunslinger Girl This Ugly Yet Beautiful World Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Dragon Ball/Z/GT
......... I'm not a huge action fan, but anyway... >o>
Also, keep in mind that most (if not all) anime/manga is PG-13 rated and up, so... Nudity and language abound, usually. xDD;
Series I would reccomend just 'cause:
Ah! My Goddess Azumanga Daioh Comic Party Genshiken Dragon Knights xxxHOLiC Kare Kano (AKA "His & Her Cirsumstances") Midori Days Negima! Magister Negi Magi School Rumble Fruits Basket Yotsuba&!
......... There's also a lot of stuff on the Internet, but iunno if you're THAT hardcore or not. xD;

Fullmetal Alchemist Trigun Madlax This Ugly Yet Beautiful World Comic Party Genshiken Dragon Knights xxxHOLiC Negima! Magister Negi Magi Fruits Basket
I have also read these (some thanks to Bushy ;D) and I also recommend them. Some are a little unusual but overall are hilarious, and have a great storyline.

I'm reading FMA, too, but I haven't got too far. I like it, though!

FMA has a good storyline, but is very different than the shows. The shows are good as well and I would suggest to anyone to watch them, but you can't think that the books and the show are the same. Trigun is different though, The books have a little more than the shows, but the books and the shows are basically the same. Both trigun, and FMA have good storylines, though my favorite show would have to be Rurouni Kenshin for the shows, and then Fruits Basket for the books.

The Fruits Basket manga might as well've died somewhere after the whole "Kyo can turn into a mutated lion-thing" arc. That was the most heartstring-pulling part of the whole series, methinks. And Tohru should've dated Yuki. Kyo had Kagura, for God's sakes. >_>;
FMA = manga > anime, in my opinion. Yeah, the anime's cool, but the manga is so much better. It's like they're two different stories altogether, going off on separate tangents somewhere in the middles. I do love FMA The Movie, though. Good stuff. And it involved Nazi Germany getting pwnd in a very neo-scientific way. Such as Edward taking out some German higher-up lady (her name escapes me) as she's overflowing with alchemical power.
I'd love to watch that movie in US History. XD
"I hate to argue with you, Teach, but... WWII was fought by using very over-exaggerated alchemy. And flying gunships. And dragons. Pretty much anything that can't happen did in WWII." XDD;
Most of the time, the manga will be better than the anime, and I think it's because of the fact that the manga leaves more room for imagination than the anime does... And you can put extra stuff in a manga, which is harder to do for anime. >o>
But, sometimes it's the opposite. For example, Pokemon (the first season, mind you). I've read some of the manga before, and some of the stuff in the anime is pulled right out of it, and other times it has an episode that's totally original and it's still awesome. <_<a
It's all perspective, though. o-oa
And I've never read or watched Rurouni Kenshin. I hear it's kinna brutal sometimes. >o>a
