If your old DS is starting to malfunction than sure, but other than that the only reason to get one is because it looks cooler. I only got mine because my shoulder buttons stopped working on my old DS. And I doubt the price'll drop anytime soon since they're still selling very well.

The shoulder buttons seems to be a fairly common problem, because my r-button on my ds-lite already doesn't work, most of the time anyway. I kinda thought it was because I always carried it in my pocket, because the same thing happened to my GBA SP.

They prolly can't fix it if the buttons are depressed for like six hours at a time because of being in a pocket during school, unless you could do something like lock them when it's closed so they can't be depressed.

Lol, or they would just ignore me. Then they wouldn't have to waste money developing a new product just because of one complaint.

Because it's our fault it's happening. It's not like it's Nintendo's responsibility in any way. It would be a nice gesture, but unnecessary for them to take care of our problems for us. If it was a problem that was cause by them I would agree, but it's because we are (unintentionally) breaking the shoulder buttons that I think it wouldn't get anywhere.

I think it would be selfish of us to push that onto them, it would be generous of them if they did something about it.

When the shoulder buttons on my DS broke (just like my GBASP), and my sister left giant scratches in my bottom screen, I figured it was time to go out and buy a DS lite. I didn't want to have my parents buy it for me, since they'd bought the first one for me only 2 years ago. But lo, I got an onyx DS lite for christmas. So I guess everything worked out in the end.
...except now I'm not sure where it is.

Which is always a good thing. XDD;;
My first DS ever was a Lite... I jumped on the bandwagon a bit late. xD;
And yeah, I've heard countless people complain about the shoulder buttons... Makes you wonder if it's really IS a conspiracy. <O<
