As much of a beating this game has taken in the media and as much as Yahtzee seems to abhor it (like I really care), I still somehow think that this game holds the potential for alot of fun. I know the characters got screwed up some, but does that matter all that much? Is it worth renting still for gameplay? I have heard both the best and the worst about this title. evidence in its favor: www.hardcoregamer.com/index.php?option=com_magazine&id_rubrique=1&type=article&id_article=228Discuss?

Never mind, i just saw the cutscenes from the game for the first time and the dialogue made me want to pull my ears out... it was insulting how stupid they sounded. Goes to show that you can't trust trailers, now can you? I was going to get ToS first, anyway, and probably wouldn't have time to play SU. That's all for the better.

That sounds like a good plan to me.
Yahtzee destroyed that game.

Now now, let's not be too hasty, here. o__o;;
SU had some good points. >o>
1) The Day levels were beautiful. Let me repeat. Beautiful. They took most (if not all) of the flaws out from Sonic and the Secret Rings and made the controls smoother and included more features. There are even semi-2D portions of the game for people who hate the 3D ones. <o<
2) I didn't really think the voices were all that bad. They did what they were sent out to do. I didn't find any of them obnoxious. >o>
3) I also liked the soundtrack. Though, the Night levels didn't really have any until you got to parts where you had to fight, which got real old real quick. And so did the menu music. <_<;
3) The graphics were nice, too. Prolly the best so far by Wii standards. I'd say they'd even compete with Metroid Prime 3. >o>
4) Super Sonic. o__O
But with the good came bad. xD;;
The Night levels. They drilled that concept into the ground. For every Day level there were about three Night levels. The controls are pretty simple depending on which controller you were using (I used the Wii + Nunchuk, Piel used the Gamecube), but they're just so long and repetitive after the first, like, three times. It was monotonous. =__=;
But yeah, in general I thought it was a good game. I'd at least rent it if you haven't played it.

It seems that this was a Wii-specific problem, which is kinda weird.

Can't understand... too... disjointed...but lol @ shrugging sonic picture
Not being a Sonic fan probably is the reason why I cannot understand this section of thread.
edit: reread... I hope "Wentos" is right, I would play a precise platformer; after all, that's what I thought was interesting about Unleashed's gameplay.
also edit: lol @ "tails is a girl" joke... glad someone notices this

(I didn't screenshot this myself from 4chan, I found an actual article about the 4chan thread.)
Basically, that Wentos guy is a Sega employee or at least has some influence on localization.
The most interesting and relevant part to this thread is that the 360 and PS3 versions were meant to be good games that would lose money, while the wii version would be a crappy game that would make money. Quality is hard to measure, but apparently the money predictions were correct.

Yeah, it was... I'm tired of the wii getting shortchanged for everything. Force Unleashed didn't have any of the revolutionary engines that the 360 version had (Molecular matter, Havoc, etc.) and it seems all the good series that made their debut or really shone on the GameCube are not even working for nintendo anymore (ie Prince of Persia). What is the deal?
